Karen Hale uses the basic elements of texture, design, and color, to create an opulent and vibrant canvas which both stimulates and pleases the lovers of art. The fact that recognizable objective forms are missing from her art leads the viewer on his/her own journey of discovery. She was born in an artistic family and her artist father taught her to use power tools at a very tender age. In fact by that time she was eleven years old. Her mother, n the other hand, taught her the home arts. Karen was so fascinated with art materials even at that early age and this led to her growth artistically. Currently, she’s able to look anywhere around her and see texture, form, and line, and to transfer what she sees plus the ideas to a canvas. Her ability to use layered color brings each piece of art to a captivating conclusion. She has been a professional artist for over 45 years.
She constructs her paintings using layers of thin and thick color that she washes, glazes, or scumbles. Even though she has no formal training, Karen learned at her father's side, and she has demonstrated a natural mastery of the arts. She has worked in many art forms over the years, and therefore has the comprehension of how a variety of materials work together to produce a harmonious piece. She may use mediums, acrylic paints, fabric, papers, chalk pastels, metallic leafing, or graphite in her works of art. The results are a display of texture and color that result in depth that draws the viewer in.
