Stuart Roy studied fine art in Wales while he was at a university, but he quickly became involved in photography at a professional level because that’s where he found satisfaction. Roy eventually settled in Suffolk and later in Norfolk a move that re-kindled his interest in painting. Since moving to Norfolk he has become enchanted with the imposing sea and landscapes this part of the country offers. As an artist Roy is continually exploring new ways of creating work and developing his personal style to capture the color the atmosphere and of a scene. In 2005, he entered a competition by Talenthouse run for Mazda cars at Goodwood Festival of Speed to design a warp for the launch of the new MX5. In this design, he incorporated one of his paintings and he designed it to show the movement of the car to the sea from the city.

His design was selected as the winning design and was produced and applied to the MX5 car that will was shown to the public at the Festival of speed. Roy has been an artist all his life. Originally he started with detailed drawings, and then moved to photography and then again back to painting using acrylics on canvas. When creating a painting his aim is to recreate the atmosphere of a scene. He’s not interested in creating a direct copy. He has paintings that he believes capture the beauty of Norfolk, whether the client is a Norfolk native, or someone who has just fallen in love with its implausible landscapes.
