Self-taught fine art photographer, Nicholas Bell specializes in black-and-white photography and monochromatic color-toned work. His interest in photography began while he was traveling with the United States Army through Europe. It was during this time that he learned to appreciate both the power of photography and visual art as a means of artistic expression. Since 2007, Bell has made his home in Knoxville, Tennessee, but he grew up in Tampa, Florida. With photography as a hobby and after leaving the Army, he dedicated his time to practice, study, and develop his artistic vision. In 2004, he began to pursue photography with more energy, and in 2008 he participated in his first exhibition. Since then Bell has participated in many other exhibitions and has worked to establish professional relationships with publishers, designers, and fine art consultants. Photography for him has much to do with time and his perception of time passing.
Today he works full time in photography. His photographs are held in private and corporate collections across the globe and are widely published. They were recently published in Black and White Magazine, The Sun Magazine, Photography Masterclass Magazine, Shutterbug Magazine, Adore Noir Fine Art Photography Magazine and F-stop Magazine. He loves the idea of feeling the present time and not being bothered with what’s next. His hope is that his photographs convey quietness allowing the viewer to feel connected to the moment without any distraction. He likes the viewer to feel to be part of the photograph and to feel that they have actually seen the subjects and the scenes he captures.
