D. Morgan has a painting career that spans more than 30 years. She’s a nationally acclaimed artist who embraces the future with new directions and new products. She cannot remember a time when she did not long to be an artist. She has no memory of ever wanting to do anything else. For years, she’s had this burning desire to paint, and today she remains just as excited about her painting career. D. Morgan’s personality and artistic style are a pleasant combination of both her parents. She lovingly refers to her parents as ‘Mother’ and ‘Daddy.’ A strong southern woman, D. Morgan was raised in Georgia and she says she has this part of her that’s her mother - a city girl. Her mother is phenomenal- she’s alive and vibrant and continues to prepare meals for herself and even to drive.
About her father she says that he had the biggest heart of any human being she has ever known. Her father had the patience of Job, and he was like a father and grandfather to her, because, he explained things to her like a grandparent, and he never judged and was never quick to criticize. Under the guidance and encouragement from her father, she fell in love with art. All her father’s spare time was spent painting, so painting became familiar to her. She learned to paint by listening to him and by watching him paint then trying it herself. When she was a young child in the classroom, D. Morgan often drew instead of studying subjects like math. She says she couldn’t help herself - she had to draw.
