Matt Freedman holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Harvard University and Master Of Arts/Master Of Fine Arts degree from the University of Iowa. He’s a graphic artist, sculptor, writer, performer, and curator. He has a background in anthropology and cartooning. His current work explores the consequences when Do-It-Yourself versions of modern manifestations revive rarely remembered cultural myths. He has participated in many solo exhibitions at many venues including vertexList (Brooklyn), Pierogi Gallery (Brooklyn), Valentine Gallery (Queens), Studio 10 Gallery (Brooklyn), FiveMyles (Brooklyn), Flipside (Brooklyn), and SculptureCenter (New York). There have been many articles about him, and he’s performed at the Brooklyn Museum, PS1 MoMA (NY), Brooklyn Fireproof, The Kitchen (New York), Galapagos Art Space (Brooklyn), and Flux Factory (New York). In 1991, Freedman is the receiver of the National Endowment for the Arts Grant, and in 2000, he received the New York Foundation for the Arts Grant Fiction writing.

His work is a result of shared ideas. He brings together the elements of art. These elements are what make up each design and together they create the balanced composition. Each image is a touching experience for him and he hopes it’s the same is experienced by the viewer. Freedman uses the best materials available so his final images are exactly what he wants them to be. He enjoys performing every aspect of the creative process including the production of the art. He wants his buyers to enjoy his pieces of art as much as he enjoys the process of producing them.
