Roberto Gonzalez (Born 1948) was born in Monforte de Lemos (Lugo). From 1969 to 1974 he studied at the San Fernando Academy of Fine Arts in Madrid. At the age of 29, he moved to Edinburgh and some years later he started to alternate his stay between Edinburgh and Madrid. Gonzalez’s style varies between conceptualism and realism. His first interested in painting was as a way of expressing his thoughts and feelings, but as time went by, it developed into a full time career. The human figures have been his concern over time and are a constant element in his work. His first individual exhibition was organized by The Artes Gallery of A Coruña in 1967.

Since then, he has exhibited in several other galleries at national and international centers, some of which include Smlik & Stokking Gallery (The Hague), Splinter Gallery (London), Pardo Bazan Gallery (A Coruña), Dieciseis Gallery (San Sebastian), GPS Gallery (Glasgow), Anderson Gallery (Massachusetts), 500 Gallery (New Jersey), Galerie Etienne de Causans (Paris), Rob Gallery (Amsterdam), Gallery 20 (Brighton), and Henderson Gallery (Edinburgh). In recent years, apart from his painting, he has experimented with photography, technological creations, and graphic design, and has taken part in several individual and group digital art exhibitions. Some of the private and public collections currently housing the work of the artist include: Cincinnati Art Gallery, Zamora House of Culture, AT & T Art Collection in New York, the San Fernando Academy of Fine Arts, Edinburgh City Art Centre, Argentaria Foundation, Skopje Gallery of Modern Art, and many others.
