Carla Kimball is a photographer from Hartland, VT. She is interested in discovering the beauty that is found in the most ordinary things as well as the beauty in the natural world. She photographs the presence. Her images range from the most scenic to the most ordinary. As Carla shares her images with others, she hopes to give her viewers an opportunity to see the world through her eyes or new eyes, and to have a direct experience of connection, joy, and discovery. Carla holds a degree in Psychology/ Counseling and is specialized in Expressive Therapy. Carla has long known the value of the arts as a means of expanding people’s awareness. Being a long time photographer of ordinary things, a facilitator of group experience, and a practitioner of the contemplative arts, the photographer has experienced the power of silence.
She says silence is able to calm the spirit and photography has the ability of focusing the mind. Currently, Carla is based in Vermont and she’s spent more than 5 years posting to a daily question/photo blog as a means of sharing her images and a venue in which to practice coming up with good questions. In the course of this time, the photographer cultivated a keen interest in the astounding aspects of the ordinary. She also developed the ability to cultivate deep thought and conversation through her questions. Carla’s daily practice as a blogger has led her to produce a variety of photographic pieces including a deck of question/photo cards. She has also managed to print her own work on float-mounted aluminum.
