Daisy Gilardini now lives in British Columbia, Canada but is originally from Switzerland.  In 1989 she made a trip to India and that’s when she started taking photography seriously. Since then Daisy has visited more than 70 countries with her camera in hand. In 1997 she made her first trip to Antarctica and fell in love with that region. Since then, she has spent most of her time photographing the Polar Regions. She has been doing polar explorations for almost 20 years and she joined more than 60 expeditions to the Arctic and to Antarctica, most of them on icebreakers and research vessels, some overland, one on a sailing boat. In 2006 Daisy joined a Russian expedition to the North Pole on skies. Her images have been published by leading organizations and magazines, such as Smithsonian, National Geographic, Nature’s Best, BBC Wildlife, World Wildlife Fund, The Telegraph, Audubon, Greenpeace, Outdoor Photography, among many others.

Daisy’s passion for the natural world has grown into an enduring commitment to publicize conservation messages. Daisy has received awards from some of the prestigious and internationally recognized photo contests including the “Travel Photography of the Year”, “British Broadcasting Corporation Wildlife photographer of the year”, “Nature’s Best” among others. In 2010 (April), she had the great opportunity to be among the jury of the “British Broadcasting Corporation Wildlife Photographer of the Year.” She’s a fellow of the “The Explorer Club”, a member of the International League of Conservation Photographers, and she is part of a team of Swiss Nikon Ambassadors, the Lower Storytellers Team and the SanDisk Extreme Team.
