Bob Pettes is an award winning American artist who was born and bred in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He started drawing while still in grade school. Pettes never stopped drawing for anything, choosing to study art in college. He studied art at the Minneapolis Institute of Art after which he went into the commercial field, creating different art pieces for companies. While in the commercial field, he created works for advertising and product making companies. At some point, he felt like he wanted to do more with his talent so he decided to start making his own art and developing his own style. The subjects of Pettes art were basically European and Americana landscapes. His Americana style has appealed to many commercial companies throughout the nation. Within a short time, his works had found their way into many publishers’ hands and were doing equally well in the gift industry.

Pettes spent some time living in Europe where he visited different countries, including France, Switzerland, England, and Germany. While there, he captured different villages in his artwork, trying his best to express their beauty with simplicity. His main medium is oil, although he’s also versed with other mediums. He has won several awards and has seen his creative art pieces penetrate the commercial world as well. Some of Pettes works are licensed to different entities for the making of prints, porcelain products, and greeting cards among other products. They are found in several different galleries and collections across the US.
