Duncan Wilson (Born in 1959) grew up in the 1970s and 1980s when comics were everywhere and wonderful artists like Ken Reid, Leo Baxendale, Cam Kennedy and Mike McMahon filled their pages. His entry into illustration was a bit roundabout. He worked as an art director after studying Fine Art at Exeter College of Art and Design. He also worked as a creative director and a computer game designer in the technology sector. However, none of these roles really taught him about drawing, but they taught him a lot about finishing work to the highest level of quality and about understanding the needs of the customer. The time Wilson spends using a computer screen allows him to come up with an individual approach to painting which make his art to be unique. In part reaction to and a celebration of printed and digital images, his paintings usually incorporate ideas, accidents and elements derived from his past graphic design works.

Alongside his career as an artist, he also found himself studying a Masters degree in Writing for Children at the University of Winchester. This is when he began to develop his illustration portfolio. For him, pictures and words have always gone hand-in-hand and as he began writing he also found himself drawing little visual accompaniments to go with the writings. That’s how the idea of the project called Pixie Tuesday was born. The project is intended as a modern guide for those seeking out the magical folk, and also looks at how they have brought elements of the modern world into their own culture and how they adapted to it.
