Artist Rebecca Meyers was born in Vancouver, BC Canada. She studied at the Emily Carr University of Art and Design and the Langara dine arts at the Ontario College of art and design. Though she started creating artwork at a very young age, she did not start selling her work until she was in her first year of college. Gardening, dancing, and food simply thinking are a few among the several things that get her in her creative zone to create art. Apart from art, she enjoys dancing, bike riding, food traveling, and anything that involves being in nature. Her mother tells her that she was always an observer. As a child, she would sit perfectly still for hours, without moving anything but her eyes without talking, and just watch. This need to observe has guided her throughout her art life. Armed with an oceanography degree after college, she headed to Friday Harbor, Washington to participate in a 25-year photographic study of killer whales.

While here, moving through the San Juan Islands in a boat in search of Orcas, she realized the true power of photography. She grasped the ability of a camera to capture mystery and beauty, and then in turn, deliver this experience to others. She was hooked instantly. Her camera became her journal, her companion, her memories, recording her view of the world. Eventually, she moved near Los Angeles after many sojourns, and took a job in a high-end photography laboratory working as an apprentice under Robert Cavelli, a master dark room printer. Working in this laboratory, under the guidance of Cavelli, ideas began to germinate. He became an artist in his own right.
