Dlynn Roll’s artwork is a reflection of who she is. Each of her abstract paintings is the result of her daydreams that she expresses out loud. Although she has been painting abstract for many years now, currently she focuses my efforts on painting on plexi glass using reverse painting technique. This technique appeals to her because of the honesty of the images created by this unique process, and the crispness of the colors. Using this technique, what’s normally painted first on canvas is painted last on plexi and she doesn’t see the final image until she can turn the painting over. And to use this technique she has to trust in the choices of composition and colors while having to stay positive in her visualization. She has to be able to accept the destiny of the creative process. Dlynn’s faith allows her to stay focused and follow these principles.
She always strives to reach a level of surrender that allows her to stay free from the insecurities that could inhibit the inner thoughts from coming out in her paintings. She likes birds. Her fascination with what birds are thinking started while she was sitting in traffic with her son. To occupy his active mind they would make up stories about how birds might interact with humans and pondered at what their conversations between each other could be like. From these stories, she got the inspiration for “Egg Belly Birds”, a fun series of paintings that today hung in her son’s room. Her art has taken an abstraction direction. Each of her paintings represents someone who has touched her life in some way.
