Julie G. Pollard is a Phoenix artist who paints in acrylic, watercolor and oil, in a painterly, fluid manner. Julie has given instruction in acrylic, oil and watercolor since 1985 in numerous venues such as San Diego Watercolor Society, San Diego, CA, La Romita School of Art in Umbria, Italy, Beach Art Group, Panama City Beach, Florida, Cheap Joe’s Art Workshops, North Carolina, Dillman’s Creative Arts Foundation, Wisconsin, and Saanich Peninsula Arts Center, Sidney, B.C., Canada. Her painting style is representational and she colors the paintings with her own personal concept of reality. Julie says that the eye may see as a camera ‘sees’, but the eye of the mind sees an imagined, altered image, what it hopes and wants to see. It’s that illusive image that’s uniquely hers, along with a heightened sense of ‘realness’ that she tries to express in her paintings. Julie goes ahead to say that this world of is often a mysterious and frightening place, but it is filled with subjects and scenes that excite her imagination and eye.
The magical allure of the natural world, and her reverence for it, compel her to attempt to capture its essence on paper or canvas. A frequent award winner, her watercolors and oils have hung in numerous galleries and juried exhibits. Her work is included in many corporate and private collections across the United States, Arizona, and around the world. She’s a signature member of San Diego Watercolor Society and National Oil and Acrylic Painter’s Society. She’s currently giving arts instruction in Quinlan Visual Arts Center, Gainesville, Georgia, Mountain Artist Guild, Prescott, Cynthia’s Art Asylum in Phoenix, etc.
