Susan Ball grew up on a farm in England. She is a country person and feels that it is a blessing to live in Sonoma County, and that a more beautiful place would be hard to imagine. She began painting at a very young age while growing up on the farm. She spent her time wandering the fields and painting the dramatic landscapes. She has always been inspired by her surrounding elements and nature. Years later, Susan still finds the most inspiration painting on location. Susan’s tropical watercolor paintings showcase some the most dramatic landscapes of England, bringing out the textures and vibrant colors found only the area. Her pieces have been purchased by individuals living in England and beyond.

In 2003, Susan together with a group of fellow artists established Graton Gallery. The Gallery is today reputed for quality among those who love art in the area. Susan’s work can be seen there daily, and she has a solo show once a year. Susan’s work has been on display in several galleries, and has been featured in numerous magazines. Her portfolio includes many original pieces that are all hand brushed on canvas using watercolor. She is available to create one of a kind commissioned piece based on the needs of the clients and their desired locations. Susan has been painting since the 1980s. She has moved into loose still-life interpretations and plein air studies. She studied with Gil Dellinger, George Strickland, Chester Arnold and Armand Cabrera. Her influences are many including Rembrandt, Constable, Corot and the Impressionists, the Russian Landscape painters Shishkin and Levitan, and many others.
