Tang Ling (Born in 1971) holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree with Distinction from Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) University. She majored in Fine Art. She held her first exhibition n 2002 in which she presented art that mediate and question the relationship between the environment and humans. Since then, she has taken part many other solo exhibitions and numerous group exhibitions. Her works have been showcased in Sydney and Bangkok. She’s based in Singapore and is concerned with the urban environment of Singapore, particularly its glorious architecture, and its effects of defiance of the figure and melancholy. Tang also holds a Bachelor of Science degree (Pharmacy) from the National University of Singapore. However, her passion has always been painting and drawing. During her secondary school and junior college days, Tang was already participating in the arts and cultural events actively. While at the university, she was the art director for the annual journal (Pharmaceutica) of the NUS Pharmaceutical Society.

Tang has chosen charcoal as her primary medium being one of the few artists in Singapore who have done so. Thought-provoking and meditative, her works are usually large-scale drawings that explore urban space and the conditions of the modern city. She creates book art, charcoal drawings, performances, installations and videos to explore architectural spaces, places and buildings as communicators of stories about life. She has received many awards and honorable mentions for her outstanding works of art. In 2001, two of her works were commended highly at the UOB Painting of the Year.
