Artist Donato Larotonda lives and carries out his artistic career in a small town in Basilicata. He works under the direction of the gallery ArteProgetto. Larotonda’s artistic personality begins to emerge through an in-depth, targeted environment, one of the issues dearest to him, with "The Golden Age" which is a series of paintings. Larotonda’s art is a continuing dialogue with the colors. He says that among the artists there is a third intruder, indispensable but silent: the canvas or any media on which the dialogue develops and builds a thought, takes shape, and a state of mind. According to him, that dialogue is sometimes violent and sometimes lively; the painting suffers, capturing silent message that will last forever, and absorbs feelings. And only an artist, silent and still, is able to pass it to generations over time.

Larotonda, together with Philippe Daverio, participated in the "caravan" artistic "13 by 17" with exhibitions that made stops in major Italian cities. This activity ended in 2007 with the publication of a catalog entitled "1000 artists survey eccentric art in Italy “13 by 17 ", published by Rizzoli. In the same year Larotonda participated in a project called "We plant trees together" with games on exhibitions from Palermo, ending with a catalog written by critic Salvo Ferlito and reaching the most important cities of the "boot." In 2008 he was invited to create one of the longest murals of Italy at “Torre Artale Relais “in the municipality of Trabia (PA). This project was followed by the publication of an illustrated catalog in two languages edited by Germana Curls.
