David Fischer (Born 1946) was an English designer and artist based in Midsomer Norton, Somerset. He was known for his award-winning designs and paintings of pub signs. Among the awards he won includes the prestigious Holburne Museum of Art Award. He secured a unique commission to create vast murals to improve United Kingdom’s service stations. Fischer’s work has been praised by John Leighton, the Director of National Galleries of Scotland, Humphrey Ocean RA, and Victoria Glendinning. From 1961 to 1966 Fischer served as decorator for F. Speed and Sons in Midsomer Norton. He attended the School of Creative Arts (formerly West of England College of Art) between 1966 and 1970. He then went self-employed as a freelance designer and artist starting a business at his home at the Hole in the Wall, Church Square. Fischer designed and created signs for pubs in South Wales, South Gloucestershire, Wiltshire, and Somerset.

He completed about 400 signs in a period of 15 years. In 1908s, Fischer embarked on the production of large scale mural for Trusthouse Forte’s Welcome Break service areas. He created fourteen of them some measured more than 8 feet high and 60 feet in length. He set a decorative theme for each site depending on its location. The themes included local battles, historical events, and local attractions. The murals were placed at Sedgemoor services, Abington services, London Heathrow Terminal 4, Gretna Green, Dover Eastern Docks, Membury services, Hartshead Moor services, Woodall services, Michaelwood services, Pease Pottage services, Newport Pagnell services, and at Copdock, Ipswich.
