Artist Ella K (Born 1891) was a Native Texan. She was an active exhibitor, and the quality of her work made her to win numerous awards and honorable mentions. Some worth mentioning include a prize she won in the late 20's for landscape in the prestigious Davis Exhibits in San Antonio, and also the honorable mention for still life at the Dallas Women's Forum Exhibit. She’s one of the artists who loved art from a tender age and could spend most of her free time drawing, painting and doodling. She always hoped that she would become a professional artist. She also liked to surround herself with artist from whom she could learn styles and techniques of producing art. She read many art books and received the support of many people who noticed her talent and were impressed with her work.

For the passion for art, she began her studies under Kathryn Cherry and Frank Phoenix in St. Louis and while here, her talent was recognized and she was awarded a scholarship in still life. Since she was determined that her life would depend on art she put all her effort on her studies. Soon she was again awarded a scholarship to study in New York. She joined the Art Students League where she studied under George Bridgman, and then she proceeded to the Broadmoor Art Academy where she studied with Robert Reid and Randall Davey. After her graduation she became an art teacher and taught at the Christoval Art Camp in San Angelo Texas.
