Deb Strain and her family live in a small wooded area at the edge of Gettysburg, Ohio. They built a beautiful Saltbox home which comfortably accommodates Deb, her husband and three children. Deb is a trained art teacher, who taught art for nine years before leaving the teaching profession in 1994 to devote her life to the development of her own art. Her inspiration comes from many things. First is from the loving and wonderful support that is all around her life, from the staff in their own business and the company, to those in her own family, and the stores that she works with. She also derives inspiration from the peaceful woods surrounding her home and from the times spent with friends, and the memories of growing up in Ohio. Much of her work is influenced by the dolls created by Anne McKinney, another renowned artist. Many Deb’s images have a folk art flavor to them; they increasingly lean toward the primitive. Deb loves art and she is lucky that her two daughters are both artists. They get much support from her husband and her son. The family is very fortunate to share such a wonderful bond. Deb and her daughters feel continually blessed by the family's closeness and being able to follow their dreams to create art and share it with others. She has grown to love the friendliness and warmth of Americana, old quilts, and gardens. Framed Deb Strain art can be found with many art collectors, both private and public. Deb’s art can be found on a number of products from greeting cards to figurines to fabric.
