Marcia Matcham works from her home art studio on a small lake west of Ft. Worth. The studio is an ideal setting for her often simple rural subject matter. She’s an award-winning watercolor artist who has been painting for almost 50 years. Marcia was born and raised in Newton, Kansas but she moved to Texas in the mid-60s with her husband and children. Even though her unique watercolors are not impressionistic, the artist has always loved the art of the Impressionists and she feels this has influenced her art. Her art has been described as Romantic Realism because of their life-like nature and because they are not photographic but have the wonderful richness and color for which she is known. Asked about what she values in life, Marcia says that she prefers a goal to a dream as a goal is easier to attain.

The artist also loves nature because it’s from nature that she derives much of her inspiration. She shares her love of art through her art. She has loved art for as long as she can remember. As an inquisitive young girl, she used to do a lot of artwork and to study the works of art by other artists. Marcia loves art and she says she can’t imagine a world without art, and she can’t think of any other career that can give her as much satisfaction as art does. She wants her viewers to enjoy her art the same way she also enjoys the process of producing them.
