Jeff Maihara is of Japanese and Scottish descent. He was born in North Vancouver and his mixed heritage has helped shape the way he approaches his subject matter and his unique viewpoint. His love of photography comes from being able to forever capture a moment in time and then share that moment with others. That moment may evoke the romance and adventure and romance of the places he visits. Capturing the feeling and emotion of someone’s special day or showing others the extraordinary in the ordinary are what makes him happy. Growing up between the mountains on the North Shore and the ocean, he learnt to see the beauty in nature at an early age.

Maihara has studied printing and photography, graphic design, and has worked in the printing and the fine arts field for over 15 years. His unique combination of experience, education, and creativity allows him to understand the client needs and create powerful images. Favorite places include Australia, Cambodia, Peru, and Japan. His true love is travel photography. The artist loves immersing himself in other cultures and has been experimenting with digital photography for the past few years - he currently creates images using digital media. He continues to live in Vancouver, and now works out of his home studio. He shares his life with his wife Lisa and his do and cats. He likes his work and can exchange it for anything else. Today, his art adorns the walls of many galleries, institutions, homes and museums. His art is in many private and corporate collections throughout Vancouver and beyond.
