Darlene Shiels loved art since her childhood. She could spend most of her free time working on her artwork. Darlene could be seen drawing and painting using any material she could lay her hands on and on any surface she could find. Many noticed her talent and encouraged her to pursue art as a career. She also had a dream that one time she would become a professional artist. Darlene went ahead and joined the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design and completed her degree in Fine Arts. Her style is unique and is inspired by artificial and natural patterns as well as the abstract. For the past 2 decades she has divided her time between studio practice and freelance contracts in television and film. Most of her subjects are inspired by the natural environment. She appreciates the beautiful and creative patterns possessed by the natural environment.
Primarily focused on painting, her interest in photography is a recent development. This has made his art to be available in both online and physical galleries across the globe. Her original works are also sold directly to customers, including Galleries and collectors. Several years ago, Darlene noticed that simple snapshots of still-lifes she was preparing for painting held an interest all on their own and she began to pursue her black-and-white photography floral studies. She continues to create customized art for specific clients – though most of her current works are her own art. Darlene currently resides on the eastern shores of Nova Scotia, Canada with her family.
