P. Moss (Born 1933) is an American artist who was brought up in Staten Island, New York. She’s known for her portrayals of life in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia and of rural landscapes. When asked how long it takes for her to paint a picture, she said her whole life. For her, it is this lifelong belief and passion that is expressed in her work, giving the viewers a collection of art that is filled with a lifetime of experiences. As a young mother she moved her family to Virginia and luckily found inspiration in the imagery of Shenandoah Valley. She became captivated by the culture and life of the Mennonite and Amish people of the area. Her inspiration comes from many things: from her urban art school education to her Irish-Italian heritage, the laughter of her children, and the simplicity of birds flying south for the winter.

She embraced the local traditions, lifestyles, and landscapes and felt that the culture and life she was part of held an important message for modern society. The vision, passion, and artistic talent of P. Moss is shared in many galleries through an extensive selection of her works, and she enjoys every opportunity to invite visitors to more fully share the beauty and sources of her artistic inspiration. She attended Washington Irving High School for the Fine Arts in Manhattan. Soon after graduating in she married Jack Moss. P. Moss had dyslexia and struggled with some of her classes in high school. However, was good at art and she received a full scholarship to study art at Cooper Union College.
