Christine Cohen (Born 1943) says that art has moved her all her life, although her early artistic activities may have been less a reflection of childlike enthusiasm, but more of a longing for emotional nurturance. She adds that if the only real sorrow she has in this life-time is not knowing who she truly is, she learned to find out that painting (art) is a practice that brings her closer to herself. Christine believes that not only is there is an unmatched freedom in the instantaneous pleasure of being submerged in painting process, once she develops a flow, it goes beyond all inner strife and struggle. She was born and raised in Germany, and she was two years old when the Second World War ended in 1945. Picasso has been her all-time hero since her teenage years. She chose bold expressions over aesthetic and subtle expressions while she was equipped with the talent of an old master.

Her style reflected organic emotions and the exchange between the inner and the outer world. She has exhibited at several locations among them Marin General Hospital, S. Eliseo, Greenbrae, California, Saint Francis Foundation, San Francisco, Poster Artist, Larkspur, Mill Valley Book Depot, Mill Valley, Citibank, Mill Valley, California, and Community Church of Congregation, Tiburon. Her professional education led to a 2-decade career in clothing design in Germany (Hamburg) where she first worked as a designer and later she worked as an editor for a leading fashion magazine. She’s self-taught as an artist however. She settled in the Bay Area in 1986 determined to turn her part-time passion of making art into a full-time career.
