Joyce Shelton resides in Florida and is a graduate of the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale. She enjoys a varied career in commercial illustration and fine art painting. Adept at watercolor, pastel, oil and acrylic, her works are reminiscent of the early 20th century impressionists in their free gestures and bold use of color. Images of flowers, fruits and interiors marry color, pattern and form in works that are both personal and decorative. "Increasingly, I find myself enjoying the freedom of painting loose, spontaneous design as opposed to working within the confines of commercial illustration. It is exciting and satisfying to create art with a more practical application to be enjoyed by a larger audience.
