Jamie Carter has licensed her art broadly. She’s a prolific artist who has developed a considerable following over the past 30 years. Many of her works can be seen as prints and on licensed products. Currently, she has lots of new art available to clients for licensing, exclusively through Porterfield's. Jamie artist was born in northeast Texas – that’s where she grew up and has never left the area. The beauty and history of the countryside continues to inspire her daily. She works from her studio, which is a historic 140-year-old cabin (one-room) that was originally a parsonage. Her formative years were with country women who taught her to quilt, sew, and use whatever was available on hand to be creative.
Drawing on the beauty of her surroundings, the artist believes that the challenge of trying to capture nature on canvas or paper and capturing the quiet world of nature is a goal that is as ongoing as the seasons themselves. Designing high school yearbook covers made her to love art more and this led her to college years that she spent in commercial art training. However, that career took a back seat once she discovered the joy of painting. After completing her college studies, her first career led her to exposure in the field of wildlife art, nationally. As her art began to be distributed nationally and to be published as prints, she discovered a niche through licensing, and in the following years she has worked with, greeting card companies, publishers and other design companies on a wide range of products.
