Harriet Nordby (Born 1933) was active in Brainerd where she died on 29, November, 2010. Harriet was born on to John and Marian Schoep (Feekes) in Sioux County, Iowa. On July 9, 1953 she met and married LeRoy Nordby in Maynard, MN. They farmed for several years near Montevideo before they decided to move to Nisswa in 1971. In her whole life, Harriet was an artist and her family owned and operated Evergreen Gallery in Nisswa and Pequot. She loved being an artist and painting watercolor, oil and acrylic paintings. She enjoyed raising flowers, gardening and decorating, and she was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Cross. Harriet also liked walking and cooking, but one of her great joys was her church.

She also loved traveling to lush climates, but most of all she loved being with her family. Her painting evolved from her desire to represent the beauties of natural and man-made objects so that others can taste and enjoy the beauty of these man-made and natural things that surround us. In the course of her studies, her artistic abilities emerged. Her first medium of choice was watercolor. Her first paintings were light filled and joyful. She was a traveler and she received much of the materials to paint from her trips. Working on location whenever possible or in her studio, she took her inspiration from Mother Nature. She produced many pieces of art which are found in many collections and galleries throughout the world. They are highly priced by many discerning collectors because they can be used to decorate any space.
