Judith D'agostino was born in Rhode Island where he lived during her early childhood. She has lived in many places as a teen and adult, including Germany, Italy, Missouri, Hawaii, California, Arizona, and has traveled extensively throughout Europe and the United States. As a child she enjoyed drawing but fell in love with oil paint after her mother presented her with a gift of a set of oil paints when she was recuperating from an illness while living in Italy. She started working seriously with oil paint, inspired by the great masters she saw in Europe in the museums, she returned to the U.S. to continue her studies and received a BFA with Honors in painting. Soon she also received an MFA. After her graduation, she taught at the university level for many years and retired in 2001 while working as the Director of Education at the Tucson Museum of Art.
Judith has exhibited extensively throughout Canada, Europe and the United States. Her art is in several prestigious collections worldwide. She now lives in Santa Fe painting the people and landscape of the Southwest and New Mexico. Her work has led her to a place that she now feels more comfortable with. She’s excited, thoughtful and challenged. She came from a primarily non-objective and abstract background which led her to what she’s doing now. Judith studies dutifully the aspects of shape, form, color, light and texture. She has been able to put to good use her technical abilities in the work she does currently.
