Contemporary Tuscan art pieces can be found in Tuscany. Visitors come to Tuscany to experience the Renaissance, with Florence being world-famous for the Renaissance in particular. The Renaissance treasures will be everywhere for you to see. But, Tuscany also has much to offer when it comes to modern and contemporary art as well including museums, large-scale outdoor installations, and sculpture parks.
Original and very interesting contemporary Tuscan artwork exhibitions are organized a few times a year by the Centre for Contemporary Culture Strozzina and also the LU.C.C.A. also known as the Lucca Center of Contemporary Art. Tuscany is home to many art galleries such as the Galleria Continua, in San Gimignano.
If it’s nice weather and you’d rather not spend the day in a museum, you can still enjoy contemporary Tuscan art. You can visit a sculpture park, or see some street art. For instance, the Forte Belvedere in Florence and the terraces of this beautiful Renaissance fort, which was built in 1590s by Grand Duke Ferdinando I de Medici and designed by Bernardo Buontalenti, is the perfect location for large-scale sculptures that you can see.
Tarot Garden is one of the best art parks in Tuscany and one of the most enjoyable. The creator is world-renowned French artist Catherine Marie-Agnes Fal de Saint Phalle who built this garden piece by piece. Chianti Sculpture Park is a permanent exhibition of sculptures and installations. It is a great example of how art and nature can coexist. There are glass trees, cows of various colors, a large falling leaf and a rainbow among bushes.
