Most traditional landscape art pieces consist of fields, flowers, mountains and the occasional animal. These sci-fi landscape wall art pieces feature outer space, planets, volcanoes, Martians, and even dinosaurs. A dinosaur stars in the center of the prehistoric landscape in the work entitled “An Acrocanthosaurus Roams an Early Cretaceous North America” by Arthur Dorety. The image maintains the beauty of nature while incorporating a Jurassic twist.
Another unconventional landscape is portrayed in Mark Stevenson’s “American Apollo Astronauts.” The setting of this sci-fi landscape art is the moon with distant galaxies hovering in the background. Instead of animals, astronauts are the moving pieces in this natural terrain. Another other worldly image is shown in Corey Ford’s “Sunlight Shines Down on Two Birds Flying Near a Cliff by the Ocean.” This piece is subtler, but it still contains an ethereal feel with its clean beaches and bright white light of the sun.
An active sci-fi landscape scene appears in Ron Miller’s “Future Astronauts Observe an Eruption on Lo, Jupiter’s Super-Volcanic Moon.” Here, two astronauts are viewing a shower of lava and fire from a safe distance on the moon of a far away planet.
A more intensely sci-fi fantasy landscape art scene is depicted in Mark Stevenson’s “Alien Flying Saucer.” This image has all of the basic parts of a natural landscape such as mountains, clouds, and sand dunes in the foreground, and it features several aliens standing around their fallen space ship. The moon looms largely behind the mountains while the aliens appear to wait rescuing from another flying saucer. These pieces offer all of the delights that any traditional landscape piece offers, plus a fantastical twist!
