What art pieces (if any) do you have on your own walls?

Toulouse-Lautrec, Gustav Klimt, Egon Schiele, Oskar Kokoschka and Vincent van Gogh should be on my walls, but understandably they are not. Instead there are pictures by Michael Leu, Rudolf Hradil and Johannes Grutzke, as well as many original graphics.

What is your biggest advice for aspiring artists?

Expect nothing - even that is hard to achieve.

What mediums do you use for your art?

Acrylics, watercolor, pencil, quill - it mustn't take too long, oil paint would be unthinkable.

What is your biggest inspiration for art?

Exhibitions, art books, posters, work by other artists in general.

How would you describe your kind of art?

Popularly colorful paintings and disturbingly introverted drawings.

How do you know when a piece you're working on is done?

It is a gut feeling - and it's really difficult to determine that moment. Starting from the prime coat, a painting has to get better and better - if it starts to tip over, I stop.

What do you feel is your greatest strength in your art?

Coloring and spontaneity in the painting, the line in the drawing.

What do you enjoy most about being an artist?

Inventing new things every day. It's satisfying and stressful at the same time.

When did your career in the arts start?

I knew I had to be an artist when I was about five years old - to be working with music, words or pictures. The pictures remained, it was the most viable option.
