What is the most adventurous thing you have ever done?

Ok, this is not risky adventurous, but more towards the unusual and exciting adventurous. I met John Denver at a rodeo once. We shook hands and our eyes locked. I think I was star struck. Our whole conversation appeared to happen in slow motion. He had the kindest eyes and was much taller than I had imagined.

What did you do before devoting your life to art?

I've always been an artist, but before going full-time, I used to work as a design consultant in a tile showroom and then as a gallery assistant.

What job did you have before becoming an artist?

In the early years of my artist career, I worked in an art gallery. It was a great learning experience working around other creatives. Being on the other side of the desk finding out first hand how a gallery works, the jurying process and how art is displayed, marketed and cared for was invaluable to me as a budding artist.

How did you get a career as an artist?

I have a BA degree in art and after I graduated started selling my work through juried shows, galleries and on my website.

Does the place you live have an effect on your art?

Yes, I live in the country surrounded by big trees, wildlife, flower gardens and farm animals. I love painting these subjects and they often show up in my work.

Where are you from?

I was born in a small town in Oregon. I still live in Oregon, but now closer to Portland than before.
"Being out in nature, going for walks in the forests, caring for my flower garden and caring for and playing with my pets. These are the things that ground me and help to connect with my inner creativity. "

What kinds of art styles have you tried?

I love expressionism and abstract, mixed media, watercolor, and acrylic.

Where do you get the inspiration to create such unique pieces?

I usually don't wait for inspiration to find me. I just get to work on a project and through the process of creating, one idea leads to another.

What is your favorite food?

I have two favorite foods, popcorn and chocolate chip cookies. Other than that my diet is quite healthy with lots of fruits, veggies and whole grains.

What is your biggest inspiration for art?

My surroundings, being out in nature, going for walks in the forests, caring for my flower garden and caring for and playing my pets. These are the things that ground me and help to connect with my inner creativity.

What is your favorite color to work with and why

I love all colors, lately turquoise and pink have been showing up a lot in my work. Pink is such a happy color. It makes me feel good like cotton candy and bubble gum. Turquoise reminds me of a tropical paradise with white sandy beaches and the clear blue sparkling sea. But by next year I'm sure I'll have found a new favorite color.

Is there a style you are interested in trying?

My goal is to work on developing and evolving my own unique creative style of painting. I like following trends to see what's new, but always strive to create work that is truly uniquely my own artist voice. More than anything though being an artist means making a meaningful connect with my viewers. I want to bring happiness and joy into their lives through my work.
