Claire Pavlik Purgus holds a bachelor’s degree in architecture from Virginia Polytechnic Institute & State University. He graduated from here in 1986. A year later, she received a post-graduate diploma in Urban Planning Practice for Developing Countries from University College London. Claire paints in her spare time. The reproductions of her work are available through art stores and frame and have been distributed widely in TJ Maxx and Target stores around the country. Claire is available as a consultant on individual graphic design, writing, and projects editing through her own website. She has exhibited her work through art galleries, open studio events, and juried exhibitions. From January 2015Claire has been the Program Manager for the Hornstein Program. She’s in charge of the finances and manages the financials in accordance with Brandeis University financial systems, alumni relations and recruitment, communications, and event organization and planning.

At Brandeis University Claire also worked for the Schuster Institute for Investigative Journalism, from 2008 to the end of 2014. There she was in charge the Institute's communications, financial systems, and a wide range of administrative needs. Before working at Brandeis, Claire worked as the managing editor for Soco Magazine. She was also a contributing writer. She worked for Hewlett-Packard Company from 2004 to 2006 as a technical writer. The artist has also consulted on projects for Liberty Asia, The Mekong Club, Cambridge International, Lexia Learning, Apeiron Institute for Sustainable Living, among others. Claire is a cofounding member of “Breaking the Links”, a nonprofit organization focusing on anti-slavery.
