Ludmila Curilova was born in Kishenev, Moldova, Ludmila. She was raised in an atmosphere of artistic exploration and was therefore compelled to paint. Her father was a scene painter and set designer for Moldova's National Theatre of Ballet and Opera; while her mother was a ballerina at the same theatre company and they instilled an appreciation and love for the arts in all their children. One of Ludmila's brothers is also an artist, while another is a famous writer in Eastern Europe. The artist says her canvas is the "looking glass' through which she interprets and views the world. The canvas is also how she responds to the world, expressing herself through subject, texture and color. The unspoken statement in her work is that there’s a princess inside every woman. In addition to the skills taught to her by her father, she received a formal art training in Kishenev at the College of Art.

Just from college she began attracting a lot of interest and building her reputation. She exhibited in several prominent Moldovian and Russian galleries, where her paintings had international appeal. In 2001 she left her country and moved to Canada. Ludmila’s art can be found in many private collections in Germany, Israel, Canada United States and France. She says that one of her greatest desires is to see as much of the world as possible and Canada is a country that really gives her such a possibility along with a stable future and life for her family. Ludmila transforms her imagination and life experience into beautifully rendered figurative and still life works, allowing the viewers the special opportunity to see the world through her eyes.
