Cory Silken is an enthusiastic outdoor explorer. His main active and photographic interest lies in sailing. A graduate of Boston University’s College of Art and Science, he now combines his love of sailing and passion for photography to convey the real thrill of sailboat racing and to preserve and document the grace of classic yachts. Most recently, he was among the crew aboard the classic Cup 12 Meter fleet in Newport, Rhode Island. Silken has quickly become established with his ability to fuse excitement with serenity in these original scenes of classic yacht racing. He has managed to record countless memorable moments in sailing in a relatively short time. Silken studied Environmental Science and graduated with a B.A. degree in Economics. At Union College, he was involved in the fine art photography program, and continued to pursue his interest in photography with photojournalism classes at Boston University.
His award winning fine posters, prints and art are never set up or posed; rather, he uses special images, with each being a unique vantage point which portrays the vibrant range of life and light on the water. He now travels throughout the world for commercial assignments and personal work, and his sailing photographic posters, prints and art have been published worldwide. He recently started an art publishing company called Silken Publishing, which features note cards calendars, posters, prints, fine sailing images and other gift images. Currently his art adorns the walls of many prestigious galleries, museums and homes. His work is on display in numerous venues across the country.
