Stevens Bradley Wall Art

Stevens Bradley (Born 1954) was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and raised in Westport, Connecticut. He joined George Washington University in Washington, D.C. at the age of 18 and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts and a Masters of Fine Arts in 1976 and 1979 respectively. Bradley spent 5 years copying more than 300 Old Master paintings at the National Gallery of Art. His work was exceptional and in 1982, he got an invitation to teach anatomy and drawing at his alma mater; six years later, he began teaching portrait painting and drawing at Georgetown University as well. Bradley remained a faculty member of both institutions until the year 2000. Bradley is unique among his colleagues for his incomparable accomplishments in three domains of figurative art: landscapes, portraiture and figurative urban landscapes. In his career of more than 25 years, he has forged a reputation as one of the leading realist painters in America.

His style is contemporary realism––boldly expressing modernity, yet rooted in classical training, through his penetrating eye and his use of paint. Bradley usually works on commission, and many of the commissioned paintings are on a grand scale for private and public spaces. He has painted the portraits of leaders and luminaries in the fields of politics, philanthropy, science, law, medicine, business and education. Bradley has reproduced several historical portraits for major institutions. He is represented by galleries in New York, Washington D.C., Seattle and Boston. His paintings are sought by private collectors throughout the country. His figurative cityscapes and landscapes are found in the collections of preeminent corporations, professional firms and associations in America.
