Arthur Zelger (Born 1914) was born in Innsbruck. He was an Austrian medalist and designer. Zelger received his artistic and commercial training in Vienna at the University of Applied Arts Vienna (formerly the local Kunstgewerbeschule). He studied commercial art and practiced with Joseph Binder, the graphic designer. In 1945, Zelger returned to Innsbruck and died there in 2004 after a busy life. Business wasn’t good during the Second World War, but after the war he managed to advertize with posters and billboards for his country Tirol and in the process he won an outstanding influence on the Austrian Advertising Art. Zelger worked for local authorities, companies, and for the Olympic Winter Games in Innsbruck in 1964 and 1976. He is one of the pioneers of graphic design in Tirol and was also one of the most important designers of the country.

Although graphic design shapes the environment and our daily lives, rarely do people think about it. But in Zelger shapes with their logos, lines, colors, fonts and images brings to the viewer a sense of calmness and tranquility. There’s a climatic phenomenon of a special kind that his created landscape brings in the viewer's mind. Since achieving his ambition of becoming an artist, his paintings were much sought after by discerning private collectors and galleries throughout the world. Painting helped him to express his inner spontaneity and optimism. Zelger enjoyed exploring his creativity and learning new techniques. He said that he had to paint. He had so many colors in her head, in so many forms.
