Brent Barnes began underwater photography more than 10 years ago. He’s is an emergency medicine physician in working and living in Oklahoma. After diving for five years, he upgraded to a DSLR system from a compact. Like other enthusiastic divers, Barnes is concerned with the ocean is rapidly declining and he hopes to use his photography to educate people on the need to preserve the planet’s oceans. Drawing on her experiences as a physician, he shoots what he loves most. His are purchased by people from all walks of life and of all age groups. They can be used to decorate any space and that explains why they have found their way into many galleries, homes, stores, and institutions. He has managed to pull a huge following and her fan base is ever expanding. Barnes is now looking for ways to begin establishing his photos in other media including print media.

After entering photography competitions in the recent past, he placed his art in the photo contest dabbed the Beneath the Sea Photo Contest of 2015. That same year saw him become a semi-finalist of the World ShootOut in the shark category. He’s been on an artistic journey for a long time and he feels that it’s only the photographic process that keeps him engaged with both the outer and inner realms and provides him with a mechanism for more than self-expression. He’s inspired by art in a variety of forms and mediums and photography has set him up with a way of being in the world.
