Liz Zernich started her art business almost 20 years ago, and has built it into one of the leading portrait photography businesses in the country. Liz specializes in the art of studio portraiture, unlike many photographers who mainly shoot events and weddings. In the process of producing her art, her true creativity emerges especially when working with children. She has loved art for as long as she can recall. It is said that it takes 10 years to gain proficiency in any specific undertaking, and fifteen years to master an artistic profession. After almost 20 years exclusively focusing on digital imaging, hand tinting and portraiture, Liz has truly mastered her art. She’s the brains and art behind Whimsical Whiskers. As establishment through which she produces her art and serves her clients.
With about 20 years of experience in digital art and portrait photography, she works from her studio in Pittsburgh. Her clients usually travel from all over the country for their family portraiture. The artist loves coming up with new creations and designs and hates anything related to the "business" aspect of selling her work. She started her business by hand-tinting black-and-white photographs. But with the advances in digital artistry, this is now a lost art. Her six animals, one lonely cat and five dogs, provide plenty of anecdotes and inspiration for her passion of working with pets. Her art has found its way into many leading galleries, art shows and exhibitions. They have been received warmly by the viewer and judges.
