Way back in 2002, Rhys Taylor spent a very long summer in between Advanced levels and University. He had nothing much else to do so he decided to take up computer graphics as a course. After messing around with many programs that were far less, he finally stumbled upon Terragen and Blender and has never looked back. He spent the next four years teaching himself CGI while undertaking an Astrophysics degree. By bad luck, he had to slow down drastically when he started his Doctorate of Philosophy, and also whenever a Total War game was released. He completed his Doctorate of Philosophy from Cardiff in 2010, having gained his Master of Philosophy there in 2006. He then moved to Puerto Rico where he spent two years as a post-doctorate working at the Arecibo Observatory. In August 2013, he escaped the jungle and moved to Prague.

Here he did much the same thing but with less attacks from el chubacabra. His research involves looking for galaxies which falls within the 210 mm waveband, a process which mainly consists of looking at static. Taylor does occasional freelance work, and his art has been shown in places ranging from the German television channel ZDF to the Royal Society. Taylor has no formal qualifications in graphics and the best he ever did at art classes in school was his one and only "B" grade at GCSE level. Luckily, in 2002, Blender didn't have any features at all so it was much easier to learn. Taylor also maintains a YouTube channel and a blog that’s becoming increasingly active.
