Jerry and Marcy Monkman are conservation writers, filmmakers, and photographers, and while they have also written books and directed a feature-length documentary film, they will usually be found shooting outdoor lifestyle and nature video and photography for commercial, editorial, and non-profit, clients. They shoot anywhere, though they most often shoot in New England, especially in Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont and Massachusetts. Their films, books, and images have told conservation-themed stories and adventure stories for more than 2 decades for clients such as The Nature Conservancy, The Trust for Public Land, L.L. Bean, Timberland and National Geographic Adventure. Monkman with his wife Marcy ran EcoPhotography, their Portsmouth, New Hampshire-based video production company and assignment and stock photo business. Their books include “Wild Acadia” which has sold widely and was named by Shutterbug Magazine as a top photo book of 2007, and “The AMC Guide to Outdoor Digital Photography.”

This received a National Outdoor Book Award in 2012. Their works have appeared in publications worldwide including Men’s Journal, Audubon, Outdoor Photographer, The Washington Post, and Yankee Magazine. Monkman’s first film (feature-length), “The Power of Place”, explores the probable impacts of a contentious energy project that was proposed for New Hampshire. Their special recognitions include “Mission Award” by North American Nature Photography Association, “Communications Award of Excellence” by New Hampshire Fish and Game’s, National Outdoor Book Award, North American Nature Photography Association - Board Member, and he was featured in 50 Photographers in Photo District News. Their photos adorn the walls of many buildings around the world.
