Rosiland Solomon was born in Los Angeles but moved with her family to Ohio when she was only two years old. She’s an award-winning artist and illustrator who has spent most of her adult life as a commercial painter. She creates paintings and drawings for areas as diverse as textbooks, puzzles, games, greeting cards, advertising, children's nature books, magazines, and even tarot deck and an astrology calendar. Her many licensees and publishers include Carnation, Harcourt, Travelsmith, Walt Disney Productions, Houghton Mifflin, C&H Sugar, Random House, Clorox, Golden Books, Scholastic, Brace and numerous others. Rosiland spent her childhood in Cleveland on the east side, still a sleepy Midwestern area that’s covered with fields of wildflowers and forest and berries during summer and spring, an area full of possums, little foxes, raccoons, skunks or snakes, hiding in wonderful patches of wildness.
She grew up with a passion for all things alive, whether they were walking or flying, crawling or green and growing. She moved back to California, her native country, and now lives in San Francisco by the Golden Gate Park and the Pacific Ocean. Although Rosiland has lived in the past with cats, dogs, snakes, rats, turtles, salamanders and fish, she now prefers visiting her “non-human” animals. She’s represented by Porterfield's which is delighted to represent her beautiful artistic works which show enormous versatility and creativity in all fields of commercial art licensing. She now focuses on crating lovely images particularly for license onto consumer home products, giftware, home fabrics, home décor, etc.
