Steven Romm loved art from his childhood. He has been in the art field all of his life. In fact he began sculpting at the age of four, and had his first solo show at Associated American Artist's gallery, in New York City at the age of eleven. Romm taught photography and art, and in 1981 became an artist’s agent for one of the most famous poster artist's of the last thirty years, Harvey Edwards. During this time he became involved in public relations, working with the Ronald McDonald House, and Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, as well as many corporations. He studied at Adelphi University together with renowned artist Robert Cronebach. He also studied with another leading artist Chaim Gross at the New School For Social Research. He later obtained his B.F.A. from Skowhegan Art School, Maine, and his Post University, M.F.A. from Boston University. In 1983 the artist together with his wife started a poster company, and within a year the company became one of the most innovative and largest art companies in the country.

He has continued to paint, and has had shows throughout the country and Europe. In 1992 the family moved to Wainscott, where they opened their business in Bridgehampton. Romm’s paintings capture spectacular skies, the vanishing Hampton's vistas and open fields. His canvases are done without paints, and unlike other artists, he utilizes a unique combination of metallic pigments, powders, and mediums all of which come together to create a painting with an inner glow and great depth that changes with the light, the exact same feeling that can be seen in the places that are the subjects of his paintings.
