Meloushka Designs is run by Melissa White, a decorative artist best known for reproducing Tudor wall paintings. Melissa has been an artist for many years. She has an eclectic and diverse style. Melissa was introduced to Elizabethan decoration in 1997 after graduating with a degree in French and art history. She hand paints interiors and fabrics, and designs printed wallpapers and textiles. Meloushka Designs has a team of specialists who deals in fine resolution art reproductions using high quality canvas for superior color and crisp detail. Their signature style is to distress and age their paintworks by washing out, cracking and rubbing back their works to distance them from the new and the mass produced, adding what they call "The patination of time.” The pieces are printed using eco-friendly inks and canvas to conserve the environment. Meloushka Designs work largely to commission. They create personalized pieces for private homes working via architects, interior designers and art consultants, or working directly with the clients.
They also work with the heritage, hospitality and retail sectors. Melissa trained with artist David Cutmore who is also a craftsman. The two have worked together over the years on many projects for private clients and museums. They have developed a practical appreciation and understanding of how the ancestors were decorating their homes whilst building up a valuable pool of Elizabethan reference material. Today Melissa uses her own "fresco secco" technique to paint on plaster. Meloushka Designs draws on ever changing and diverse influences for their designs and are best known for reproducing painted cloths and Elizabethan wall paintings.
