Hidden moves was founded by Rhys Owens who comes from Swansea in South Wales, UK. Owens has either been working or studying within the field of digital art and design for the last couple of decades. He studied technical illustration, graphic design, life drawing, and some ceramics - but digital art is what he uses most and it pays his bills. Owens’ artwork is inspired by anything visual: street art, films, cartoons, TV, gig posters, and computer games, among other things. His most popular pieces are dark, slightly surreal, anthropomorphic characters, but he tries to include a bit of everything in his work. Owen says he has never been able to describe the concept behind these characters accurately, but it wouldn’t be a bad start to say that they’re inhabitants of post-apocalyptic, urban environment.
His work has evolved over several years but there are always a few core techniques that remain in all his work. He starts with a balanced composition, and each of his pieces must have vibrant, exciting but balanced color and light and an interesting subject. His work has been inspired by great artists and he seeks inspiration from other sources. He is always on the lookout watching films, people and also reading. Owens sells his artwork through a number of distributors, but his dream is to be able to provide signed prints direct from his studio. For obvious reasons, he calls these Studio Editions, and they come in a limited run of 250 prints per size and in two sizes. He tries to keep delivery reliable and prices reasonable.
