Lisa Fertig’s desire to create has been instilled in her since early childhood. Lisa was brought up in Duluth, Minnesota where she learned to appreciate the changing of seasons and the beauty of nature. She received her formal Fine Arts training at the American Academy of Art in Chicago, Illinois. After that, she furthered studies at Atelier Lack in Minneapolis, Minnesota and at the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis College of Art and Design. Lisa has belonged to many art groups and had the opportunity to serve as Workshop Chair of the Northstar Watercolor Society in the Twin Cities. This is also where she received more training under artists who were renowned nationally. She works in oils, acrylics, and watercolor and has produced a considerable body of work in a variety of categories including abstracts, still lifes, and landscapes.

Her experience also includes work in graphic design, and she’s had her work licensed in the greeting card industry. She paints in two distinct styles, abstract and representational, which at first may appear irreconcilable, but are practically two aspects of the same journey. For both, the outcome is the same. She has received awards in competitions and her art is shown in galleries throughout the Minnesota area. Lisa’s art is held by numerous corporations, businesses, and private collections. Teaching, commissions, gallery representation and participation in art fairs, keep her enthusiastic about painting. Her representational work exemplifies her response to the environment, more so to the countryside and to the colors, shadows, and shades of late afternoons and early mornings.
