Karen Tusinski graduated in 1998 with a B.F.A. in Painting from Montserrat College of Art. She subscribes to the natural contrast found in the world. Organic and geometric forms play together in each of her pieces, combining in an animated abstraction. Her palette is vibrant, earthy and balanced. She currently lives and works in the Cape Ann region of Massachusetts. Karen’s themes include beaches strewn with pebble and tranquil seas, dazzling poppies in a variety of color schemes, and circular re-occurring patterns in both expressive still lifes and abstracts. Her art offers pleasing relationships of tone through common patterns and motifs inspired by nature. Karen has widely exhibited her art at various locations including Eriksson Fine Art Gallery, Stowe, Side Street Gallery, Rocky Neck, The Marshall Gallery, Studio E Gallery, CODA Gallery, Larkin Gallery, Chameleon, Newburyport, Dragon Fly Fine Arts Gallery, Gleason Fine Art Gallery, Edgewater Gallery, Middlebury, Polonaise Gallery, Eisenhauer Gallery, Powers Gallery, among others.

She’s a keen observer and her keen observation of what may seem ordinary to some artists provides the viewer with a new lens to hold against everyday images, from bowls to buds to horizon lines. Her art has been published in magazines such as New England Home Magazine, Art New England, Coastal Home, Boston Common, Boston Home Magazine, Boston Globe Magazine, Southwest Art, American Art Collector, The Atlantan, and Maine Home & Design. Karen often uses geometric patterns to act as banners at the base of her paintings to anchor her subjects in space.
