Artist Marilu Datoli Hartnett (Born 1957) was born in Connecticut. He majored in studio arts in London and at Syracuse University in New York, and received her Bachelor of Arts degree in 1980. Just recently, Marilu studied with Susan Kae Grant, bookmaking, and Phyllis Bramson, painting, at Anderson Ranch in Snowmass, Colorado. Marilu also studied at The Center for Book Arts in New York City. She has worked as a mount maker and an art preparator in many finest museums of New York City such as The Whitney, The Guggenheim, The Museum of Arts and Design (the Craft Museum), The Cooper Hewitt National Design Museum, and many galleries in New York City. She’s also worked as a model maker for Owings and Merrill, Skidmore, in addition to producing paintings in her Brooklyn studio between installations. Marilu feels blessed to work full-time now on her artwork.

She’s represented by The Cheryl Hazan Gallery in New York City. Marilu has been included in many shows around the country and has exhibited in art fairs in NYC, such as The Pavilion at Art Expo and the AAF show. Her work is held in public and private collections throughout Europe and in the United States. She’s a great source of inspiration to many upcoming artists and even to established artists as well. She has a unique style that merges reality and abstraction. This has made her art to be very popular with many viewers. Her recent works depend more on the interplay between line, form, light, instability and balance.
