Born in Kansas City Erica Hopper is a painter whose use of color is strong, yet positioned to create a colorful vivaciousness and quiet contemplation. She has exhibited at Coda Gallery, Palm Desert, Imperial Bank, Los Angeles, Rancho Mirage, A Gallery, Palm Desert, and New York Art Expo. Her paintings are abstractly interpretive and compelling. Erica studied industrial and graphic design at San Diego State University, after which she proceeded to the University of The Americas in Puebla, Mexico to continue her art education. She also studied at San Diego University, CA. Her art is in many private and corporate collections including those of Radisson Hotel, Mission Valley, Stratum Textile Corp., Los Angeles, Singing Hills C.C., Imperial Bank, Los Angeles, Desert Oral Surgery, Palm Desert, Steve Chase Assoc., Rancho Mirage, Creative Excellence Inc., Seattle, Harbor Club, San Diego, Mercer Group, Santa Barbara, Del Mar Race Trace, Club House, Gerhard Design Group, La Costa, Denton House, Salt Lake City, and Sheraton Hotel, Anahelm.
After her graduation, Erica became a successful illustrator with many published works in national periodicals. She creates subtle imagery with delicately modulated surfaces. She illustrates her media into fragments of shape that symbolize ideas of nature's essentials and landscape figurative. Erica concentrates on textile design and oil media. While the artist develops figurative images with markings and color washes that she clearly defines, the edges leave room for imaginative completion. Her extensive travels have built her respect and admiration for wildlife and ethnic origin. Wildlife has become a constant in her compositions.
