Robert McClintock (born 1958) was born in Brattleboro, Vermont. He was born in an artistic family. He was born to a dancer mother from Brooklyn, NY, and a musician, hairdresser, actor, singer, artist, dancer father. Two of his aunts were fashion photo stylists in Manhattan from the 1960s through to the 1980s, and his grandfather was a serious amateur photographer in New York City. His parents met in New York City and moved to Vermont in 1954. McClintock grew up in Wilmington, Vermont near the Mt Snow Ski Area where skiing was second nature to him. McClintock was always attracted to the arts and especially photography, he would hang around photographers such as Ray Kellman and Jon Abbott loading gratefully assisting the ladies underwear photo shoots for Macy and Sears’ Catalogs and also loading their Hasselblads.

He graduated from Vermont Academy in Saxtons River, Vt though he grew up in Wilmington, Vermont, he then went to the University of Vermont where everyone expected he’d enroll in medical school, but after just one year, he dropped out and hit the road and worked in the restaurant business as a bartender and waiter for the next 15 years. After the 15 years and believing that he could make a living in the arts, he declared himself a professional photographer. His first paying commercial work shooting head shots for a theater company when he was 16 years of age, and never looked back. He bought his first digital camera in 1996 and quickly got to work. McClintock immediately enjoyed the instant spontaneity and gratification while shooting.
